Booking the Micat Ferry
- What if I lose my Micat ticket?
No worries, we use a cloud based check in process to board, so you can just advise the crew of your first and last name and they will check you in using that and your rego if you’re in a vehicle. If you are a passenger, it is the same process. Your tickets can also be found on your Micat account. So just login to your online account here to find you ticket.
- Some of the people in my booking need to return a different day, what do I do?
No problems, just login to your online account here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings, click View, and Edit Booking on the booking you would like
to edit. Click ‘Add / Remove A Passenger Ticket’ and follow the prompts. - I have booked for extra people in my car and paid for them but they are no longer coming to the island, what do I do?
That’s a shame for them…more Moreton for you! You will receive a full credit for their bookings to travel in the next 12 months. To receive this, just login to your online account
here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings, View on the B to M portion of the relevant booking, then Edit Booking, Edit Details of Booking on the
booking you would like to edit. Then edit your vehicle to have the correct number of passengers travelling. A credit will then appear at the bottom. Then checkout like usual, and the credit will be emailed to you 😊 - What is your cancellation policy?
To view the terms and conditions of your booking, either head to you confirmation email (they are attached as a pdf) or head here.

No worries, to do this just login to your online account here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings, click View on the B to M portion of your
booking, then Edit Trip Date / Time. We’re sorry, for security reasons, we cannot cancel your booking via phone or email. We’re sorry, but we cannot alter departure times within 24 hours of departure. For the terms
and conditions of your booking, head to your confirmation email (pdf attached), or here. - What are the chances of getting the trip I want if I’m on the waitlist?
Very difficult to say! The waitlist is an automatic email system that will send everyone on the waitlist an email to notify them that there is space available, it will then be a first in best dress for who gets the spot. If you get an email you will just need to log into your online account and edit your date/time to the newly available one. You can also go onto the website periodically and check availability yourself (what you can see is what we can see / book 😊) If you don’t hear from us, unfortunately this means nothing has come up. Your other option is heading down to the ferry as a standby. This means that we will load you on the ferry if there is a cancellation on the day or other space available on the day. No guarantees sorry! .
- I’m using a hire car, so I don’t know the rego, how do I book?
That’s no worries, there is a box you can tick if you dont know the Rego yet. 😊 When you do find out, login to your online account here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings,
click View on the B to M portion of your booking, then Edit Details of Booking. Then select the vehicle, enter the new rego details and checkout. We can just update this for you at the terminal. We go by last name to check you in on the day, so this won’t be an issue. - My rego has changed, how do I update it?
No worries, just login to your online account here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings, click View on the B to M portion of your booking, then Edit
Details of Booking. Then select the vehicle, enter the new rego details and checkout. If you find out on the day of your departure, we can just update this for you at the terminal. We go by last name to check you in on the day, so this won’t be an issue. - I have a different car than the one I booked on Micat, does that matter?
This is very important for a couple of reasons. Firstly, only 4WD Vehicles can go to Moreton Island as the Island is all sand and there are no sealed roads. If your car is not listed there is a good chance that it is not a 4WD. Secondly vehicles are allocated to the trip based on the size weight and length of your vehicle. If you put in a different make and model, then you either a) may not fit on that trip as there isn’t enough space left and b) you will need to pay more for your booking prior to loading. To change your existing booking to the right model simply log into your account. Click on the circle with your initials in it on the top right-hand side of your screen. Click on bookings select View/Edit booking on the booking you want to change. Go down to where you can see the make and model of your vehicle and select edit and it will take you to where you can change it. Please note if the vehicle you have in there is smaller than the new vehicle you will either be charged more, or it may tell you that it doesn’t fit. If this happens you will need to change your trip to one with more spaces.
- I would like to give my vehicle ticket to my friend, can I do that?
That shouldn’t be a problem, the most important thing in your booking is the vehicle length. As long as you have booked the appropriate length for the new vehicle (
here is our size guide to help you out), you just need to update the description of your vehicle and your rego. To do this, just login to
your online account here, click My Account, Upcoming Bookings, click View on the B to M portion of your booking, then Edit Details of Booking. Then
select the vehicle, enter the new rego and vehicle details and checkout. If you need to upgrade the length of your vehicle, you will need to select the next size down (e.g. 5.2m to 6m) when altering your booking
above. Here is a handy how to video on this: https://youtu.be/kmGf8sTvt1A - I want to give my passenger ticket to my friend, can I do that?

For the comfort and safety of all, passengers are limited to 3 pieces of luggage e.g. esky, chair, backpack. If you have additional baggage, you will be charged per additional item. Sorry, please leave your luggage

please call us (3909 3333). If you’d like to save the hassle, you can hire kayaks, snorkelling gear and more on the beach at the Tangalooma Wrecks. More info

taxi wherever possible. The closest train station is Wynnum North. - Is there disabled access on the ferry?
There is absolutely access to the vehicle deck in your vehicle, but the ferry has quite a few stairs (48) between the vehicle deck and the saloon deck, where the toilets, café and seating area are. You can stay in
your vehicle for the duration of the 90 minute trip. - Where does the Micat land on Moreton Island?
The Micat lands directly on the beach and drops passenger and vehicles off next to the Wrecks, on the western side of the island (see This map of Moreton Island for more information).
- What is your phone number?
Our phone number is (07) 3909 3333.
PERMITS

camping permit. Native Title of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee group was formally recognised on Moreton Island on November 22 2019. This means that all vehicle access permits and camping permits are now booked

TRAVELING ON MORETON ISLAND
- What if I get bogged or need to be towed?
So you’ve tried everything and you’re still stuck? There is a rescue service on the island provided by Lindsay Roberts. You can contact Lindsay on 0414 949876 or 3408 3545. Charges apply.
- What if I get lost on Moreton Island?
Make sure you download our map prior to your departure and have an idea of the tracks to take to your accommodation. Navigating around
the island is quite simple, the most difficult part is tide times! Make sure you check the tides before any journey. In the unlikely event that you do get lost, please contact emergency services to assist. - How do you get to Kooringal on Moreton Island?
There is no vehicle or passenger ferry that takes you directly from Brisbane to Kooringal, but that’s ok, it’s only 45 minutes’ drive from the Tangalooma wrecks where the Micat ferry lands ! So, the best way to get
to Kooringal is to catch the ferry from the Port of Brisbane to the Tangalooma Wrecks, and drive through middle road, follow the eastern beach, then turn into the Kooringal inland track to get to the Kooringal
township. The Eastern beach is extremely tidal, so make sure you’re only travelling to Kooringal on mid tide or lower. If you find that you are landing on a high tide, no worries, chill out at the wrecks for a few
hours, there is plenty to see and do while you wait for the tide to come down😊
Food & Supplies
- What if I run out of fuel?
Oh no, please don’t run out of fuel! Did you know that if you head to Moreton with a full tank of fuel, you can see most of the island and not need fuel? Moreton’s attractions are much closer together than Fraser
Island (we’re only 38km long and 13km wide at the widest point). If you do find yourself in a pickle, Petrol and Diesel are sold on Moreton Island at the Castaways store at Bulwer in 20 litre jerry cans. This will
cost you $60, and you will need to return the jerry can, please! - What if I need firewood on Moreton Island?
As Moreton Island is a national park you cannot use the island’s natural wood. So, either bring your own firewood to the island, or you can purchase firewood from the Micat departure point at Port of Brisbane
- What if I run out of food, or need supplies?
There is a general store on Moreton Island, you can purchase all your holiday essentials from Castaways located in Bulwer around a 20 minute drive north of the Micat landing point.
